Viewstar

Viewstar is a multi-phased development situated across multiple adjacent properties, totalling 350,000 square feet of land area, 1.3 million square feet of total floor area, and over 900 residential units. Phase 1, located between Phases 2 and 3, comprises 6 residential buildings with 577 units. Phase 2, on the north side, comprises 2 residential buildings totalling over 300 units along with a 200,000-square-foot commercial tower, plus a significant community contribution — a mixed-use community centre of over 35,000 square feet. Phase 3, on the south-west corner, comprises 2 residential buildings with 90 units; abutting the Fraser River, it provides dike improvements seamlessly integrated into the building design.

Civil engineering scope

MPT Engineering provided civil engineering services for all phases. Phase 1 included a new road from No. 3 Road to Corvette Way, pedestrian and bicycle facilities along the frontages, and over 1,000 metres of storm sewer, sanitary sewer and water main. Phase 2 included completion of pedestrian and bicycle facilities along the frontage. Phase 3 included modifications to Capstan Way, Corvette Way improvements, and pedestrian and bicycle facilities along all frontages.

Significant dike improvements were required — raising the dike core to 4.9 m with provision for future raising to 5.5 m — which MPT coordinated the design for and oversaw to completion. Construction of Phases 2 and 3 is forthcoming, and MPT Engineering continues to be involved as the development progresses.
