An architectural landmark in Coal Harbour.
Alberni by Kengo Kuma is a striking residential tower in Vancouver’s Coal Harbour — the celebrated Japanese architect’s first residential building in Canada, instantly recognizable for the sculpted voids carved into its glass façade. Matson Peck & Topliss provided professional land surveying services on the project.
The challenge
A tower of this architectural ambition — with its curving, scooped form on a tight downtown site — demanded exceptional survey precision and construction control, where the building’s geometry left no margin for error.
Our approach
Our surveyors established and maintained rigorous control through the build, carrying precise layout up the tower as its complex form took shape, in close coordination with the project team.
Outcome
Survey deliverables that supported the faithful realization of a landmark design — now one of the most distinctive towers on Vancouver’s skyline.
